Fuel Abatement Project

Fuel Abatement Project

Each winter, Yarnell Fire District seeks to minimize the risk of Wildland Fires in our jurisdiction. Within our crew, a team of five wildland firefighters clear several acres of overgrowth on public land and perform controlled burns if needed. This is a part of YFD’s Fuel Abatement Project. We encourage our residents to create defensible space on their properties as well, by clearing dead brush, trimming trees and bushes. For information about fuel abatement on your property, please call 928-427-6578. Also obtain a burning permit at our Administration Office prior to open burning.
